The Vitamin E found in coconut oil soothes eczema, sunburn and psoriasis, and it has antiviral and anti fungal benefits Coconut oil contains 3 fatty acids: capric acid, lauric acid and caprylic acid.
Organic Olive Oil - Once referred to as liquid gold by Homer, Olive Oil has been used as a beauty and skin care remedy by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Egyptians and Romans. Today, it’s still prized for everything from erasing stretch marks and minimizing wrinkles to anti-aging therapy and deep hydration. One reason Olive Oil is so effective is that it’s rich in antioxidants, such as Vitamins A and E, polyphenols, phytoserols and the rare compound, Hydroxytyrosol, all of which help repair skin and neutralize the free radicals that cause skin damage. These antioxidants have a natural ability to stimulate cells and bring skin back to a firmer, healthier state.
Organic Sustainable Palm Oil - Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms, primarily the African oil palm. It is naturally reddish because of a high beta-carotene (Vitamin A) content. Palm oil is actually 15 times richer in Vitamin A than a carrot! Beta-Carotene (or Vitamin A) is a carotenoid, which is found in foods like carrots, tomatoes, and pumpkins. Carotenoids are well known for fighting the damage done to your skin due to UV ray exposure. This makes palm oil a wonderful ingredient that helps not only to prevent damage from sunburn, but to stop premature aging as well.Palm oil contains a high concentration of Vitamin E. This particular vitamin is very special because it contains tocotrienols. Tocotrienols are antioxidants within the Vitamin E family and are much rarer and much stronger than the common form of Vitamin E known as tocopherols. Tocotrienols are more effective in protecting the skin, for they are able to penetrate much deeper into the bottom most layers of your skin. Adding palm oil into any natural soap results in the soap having a pleasant lather with nice medium bubbles. Palm oil increases the hardness of the bar and helps it last longer.
Organic Shea Butter - A skin superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Shea butter has been used in Africa and other countries for years to improve skin and hair. The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skins natural oils. Due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter has anti-inflammatory benefits. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, has been found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne. Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction.
Organic Castor Oil - This pale-colored oil extracted from castor beans in highly therapeutic. In soap it acts as an emollient, humectant, and softener, adds and retains moisture and protects the skin. It is also used to treat dry, lacerated, and chapped skin, including psoriasis. It makes a soft, conditioning bar with bubbly, stable lather. Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which delivers anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin.
We carefully select luxury oils, herbs, botanicals, spices, and extracts to give each formula it’s own unique therapeutic skin and aromatherapy benefits. We hand grind our herbs, botanicals, and spices the old fashioned way using a mortar and pestle to ensure that their medicinal qualities are preserved.
Goats Milk * - Goat's milk soap delays signs of skin again due to its high content of alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid. Alpha-hydroxy acids break down dead skin cell bonds, removing dead skin cells from the skin's surface and leaving behind new cells on the surface that appear smoother and more youthful. Goat's milk reduces skin inflammation due to its fat molecule content. The cream present in goat's milk is a moisturizer, soothing dry and damaged skin, possessing an anti-inflammatory effect. Goat's milk is packed full of essential nutrients and vitamins like vitamin D, C, B1, B6, B12, and E, that feed the skin and are absorbed into the body. Studies now show that goat's milk is effective for treating acne and skin conditions. This is primarily because goat's milk has anti-bacterial properties that delay the growth of microbial organisms that spur the spread of acne.
Honey * - Honey has significant antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities that make it very useful as a conditioning agent for the skin. Although composed primary of fructose and glucose, honey also contains proteins, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, minerals, probiotics and other components that it delivers to skin cells. Powerful botanical compounds neutralize blemish and wrinkle-causing free radicals on the skin surface and within deep tissues, before they cause damage
Lavender Essential Oil * - Lavender is great for the skin. Some of its skin benefits include that of being antiseptic and anti-fungal which helps to reduce scarring and speeds healing.
Rose Essential Oil * - Rose Buds have healing and nourishing qualities and act as a gentle astringent. They contain anti-oxidants that can fight free radicals, skin irritants, excess sebum, and germs. Great for dry, stressed and dehydrated skin.
Calendula * - Dried calendula petals are a great addition to soap because they maintain their color imparting an orange color to the soap. The petals are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and immune stimulating. These properties are useful for treating various types of dermatitis such as eczema.
Much of the healing properties of calendula are because of its high levels of carotenoids (vitamin A like compounds). Because these compounds are oil soluble, an infused oil is a good way to go. Calendula also contains oil soluble sterols that help plump the skin and keep it thick.
Colloidal Oatmeal * - Colloidal Oatmeal is generally used in the bath as an additive to bath water, which moisturizes dry and problem skin, especially that of eczemic skin in children. This Colloidal Oatmeal is GMO-free and consists of key active ingredients such as beta glucan, which acts as a natural, deep penetrating moisturizer and avenanthramides, natural antihistamines that reduce skin irritations and itching.
Rice Bran Oil * - Rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants that will leave your skin soft and healthy, Rice Bran Oil has been used for decades in Japan and China as a beauty aid. Rice bran oil is also rich in a substance known as oryzanol, an antioxidant and free radical 'buster' more powerful than Vitamin E. Rice bran oil nourishes skin cells with vitamins and antioxidants, slowing down and preventing aging process, and helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Rice bran oil also has anti-inflammatory properties and can help sooth and calm down irritated skin.
